Friends of Strand School
The Parents Teachers Association of Strand on the Green Schools
“…helping our children’s future”
Friends of Strand Schools is our Parents, Teachers Association, to which all parents and carers are automatically members. We play 2 key roles within the Infant and Junior school community:
The first key role of Friends of Strand is to organise community events. We hold regular coffee mornings on Tuesday mornings, in the community room, straight after drop off, as well as social evenings once or twice a year giving people a chance to get together and meet fellow parents and carers. We also hold an End of Year Bonanza which is among other things, an opportunity for the children to show off their dancing skills, and a chance to find out more about the hugely diverse range of cultures represented within the school. Parents and carers can also show off their rounders or race skills, and the evening then continues with live music, and a barbeque or picnic.
Another major role is to raise funds for additional items outside of the school budget. In recent years we’ve raised money to fully equip all classrooms in both Infant and Junior schools with interactive white boards. Friends have also provided both schools with superb ICT suites. In addition we recently paid for the Infant school hall to be modernised and refurbished, and funded the Junior playground adventure trail. The list goes on!!!
All this has been possible with the help of Friends of Strand Schools.

In order for us to be successful we need as much help as we can get, so if you are interested in helping out, whether it be to put up posters, to source raffle prizes, or to run an event we would love to hear from you. If you are unable to help out with events you can still participate by coming along to our events with family and friends, or alternatively you could become a Gift Donor.
