Year 2

Year 2 brings fresh challenges as children continue learning through the KS1 curriculum. A broad, deep and balanced curriculum is planned so that learning is meaningful, connections are made in learning and links are made across different subjects. The investigative and creative activities encourage children to use a range of thinking skills throughout their learning.

Children are increasingly independent and reflect on their own learning and work closely with their classteacher to plan their next learning steps. Daily Literacy and Mathematics lessons are planned according to ability and children are grouped in different ways to maximise their learning. Events, visits and clubs enrich their experience with visits ranging from Gunnersbury Museum to West Wittering seaside! Children also participate in an end of Infants performance. Towards the end of the year children take part in summative assessment (SATS) and begin to prepare for their entrance to Juniors through a planned induction to Year 3.
