Our mission and Strand values
Our mission is to 'Cherish and Inspire Every Child'.
We are all committed to upholding and living by our six Strand Infants values;
Respect - when you are polite and treat others well
Thankfulness - when you are glad and grateful
Kindness - when you are friendly, generous and considerate
Working together - when you work well with your friends to learn and get jobs done
Perserverance - when you try hard at somethingeven when it is difficult
Fairness - when you do the 'right' thing giving everyone a chance
We also believe it is important to uphold British values, whilst celebrating the diversity of languages and cultures represented in our school.
Flag Pole
We are so proud of our Strand logo that we even have our own Strand flag that flies high on our flagpole. We have many national and international flags that we raise throughout the year. For example we raise the English flag on St George’s Day, the Scottish flag on St Andrew’s day, the Welsh flag on St David’s day and the Irish flag on St Patrick’s day. Families with connections to other countries let us know and we ensure that we find a reason to raise that flag at some point in the year. Our collection is growing by the day; France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Somalia, Barbados, USA... over 50 flags to date!
British Values
Our school is committed to serving its community and surrounding areas. We recognise the multi-cultural, multi faith and ever-changing nature of the United Kingdom, and therefore those we serve. We also understand the vital role we have in ensuring that groups or individuals within the school are not subjected to intimidation or radicalization by those wishing to unduly, or illegally, influence them.
The Government emphasizes that schools are required to ensure that key ‘British Values’ are taught in all UK schools. The government set out its definition of 'British Values' in the ‘Prevent Strategy’.
As a school we embrace these additional 'British Values' of;
Democracy
The Rule of Law
Individual Liberty
Mutual Respect
Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs
