School Meals, Milk & Snacks

Lunch times

Children and families can choose between having a school dinner or bringing a packed lunch from home.

School dinners;

Every pupil in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 is eligible for a free school meal. Although every infant school pupil is entitled to a free school meal it is still important that we ask if you are receiving any of the benefits listed below. If you are receiving any of the below benefits and you have not previously applied for free school meals please speak to the school office as we need to  ask you to fill out the relevant form so that the school can continue to receive extra funding through the pupil premium.

 •          INCOME SUPPORT

•          CHILD TAX CREDIT (Provided you are not receiving Working Tax Credit)

•          JOBSEEKER ALLOWANCE (income based only)

•          AN INCOME–RELATED EMPLOYMENT AND SUPPORT ALLOWANCE

•          GUARANTEED ELEMENT OF STATE PENSION CREDIT

•          NATIONAL ASYLUM SUPPORT SERVICE (NASS)

We appreciate that this is sensitive information and would like to reassure you that it will be treated in the strictest of confidence.

Good food and good food culture has been shown to lead not only to healthier, happier and more fulfilled children, but to improved educational attainment. Evidence from those areas that already provide universal free school meals is that children eat more healthily and perform better academically. Schools in those areas have also reported improved behaviour and atmosphere as a result of all pupils eating together every day.

We believe that the school lunchtime is a great opportunity for all our children to sit down together and enjoy their healthy and tasty meal, while developing their social skills. We therefore hope that all parents will take up this offer of a free school meal for our infant pupils.

Our school meals are provided by Chartwells Feeding Futures with London Borough of Hounslow.

We would like to advise that following a settling period we would expect children to remain with either packed lunch or school dinners and only make changes at the beginning of the half term or the new term, as meal orders will be placed at least 10 days in advance.

Packed lunch;

Although we encourage families to choose the school meal option you may bring a packed lunch for your child. Packed lunches must be brought to school in a suitable labelled lunch box when your child comes in to school and placed on your child’s class trolley in the school playground. We pride ourselves on being a healthy school and ask that no sweets/chocolate bars or fizzy drinks are included in your child’s lunch; however a small chocolate biscuit is acceptable.

**We are also a nut free school as we have an increasing number of children with severe life threatening allergies.
