Provision for Pupils with SEND

Back

We enjoy teaching a community of children with varying needs and abilities.

Teachers, teaching assistants and learning support assistants work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) in making the curriculum accessible for those with disabilities or special educational needs by complying with the duties in the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014.

We are proud of the learning support we provide. Underpinning this work is the belief that all children can achieve and succeed; we want all pupils to feel confident and proud, thriving at school. Staff are well trained in identifying special educational needs and meeting the needs of a wide range of learners in class. We also provide a range of school-based interventions including Speech and Language and small step Literacy intervention. External professionals also work closely with the school; including Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language therapists, a Behaviour consultant, and Educational Psychologist.

Therapeutic Support is provided when children face emotional difficulties or have suffered an adverse childhood experience such as bereavement or problems at home. This includes structured small group support sessions provided by staff, for example, focussing on friendship or anxiety. Children and parents may also work with our Family Support and Nurture leader.
