Design and Technology

Design and technology at Strand Infants engages children in a broad range of designing and making activities which involve a variety of methods including designing, drawing, assembling, making, writing, evaluating and using information and communication technology. Children are also encouraged to modify and improve their design as part of the evaluation process. Design and technology encourages children to learn to think innovatively and to solve problems both as individuals and as members of a team.

Children will design and make a range of products and encouraged to complete the process with high quality outcomes appropriate to their age and ability.

As part of their work with food children are also taught how to cook and apply the principles of nutrition and healthy eating. Every year children participate in a Healthy Week at school and children learn about the basic principles of a healthy and varied diet and understand where food comes from.
